As we approach December, AFOI is gearing up for its annual holiday assistance program. Every year, we rely on the contributions of supporters like you to make the holidays brighter for the families we serve. Please consider helping a family impacted by incarceration during the upcoming season of giving. Below are the many ways you can get involved.
Holiday Meal Basket
Suggested shopping list:
Yams or Sweet Potatoes (canned)
Mashed Potatoes (box mix)
Cranberry Sauce (canned)
Green Veggies (canned)
Stuffing Mix (box mix)
Gravy (canned or dry mix)
Cocoa (box mix)
Pie Crust & Fruit Filling/Other Desserts (box mix)
Iced Tea Mix/Drink Mix (dry mix/powder)
Paper products (cups, plates, napkins)
$15 gift card to purchase a turkey, if desired
'Adopt' a Family
Choose a small (2-3 people), medium (4-5 people), or large (6 or more people) family and purchase items from their wish list. Wrap the items and attach gift tags with only the ‘to’ line filled out. Deliver the items to the AFOI office. If you want to meet the family, some families are open to you delivering gifts directly to their home.
Gift Items for Children
Each year we give children in our programs a stocking filled with gift items. Below are the items we are in need of:
New underwear – boys’ boxer briefs in youth sizes S-XL; girls’ briefs in youth sizes S-XL
New socks – boys and girls socks in youth sizes S-L
New small, stuffed animals
$5 McDonald’s gift cards
If you, your family, or you and your coworkers/friends, are interested in helping others as an individual or family/group, please contact us today at (804) 643-2401 or firstname.lastname@example.org. If you can't participate in one of the ways above, you can also make a donation to our holiday assistance program.
